APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

AGENDA OF THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications begin Monday, October 1 through Wednesday, October 31, 2018.

Notification of acceptance: November 15 will be notified whether or not it was accepted.

Duration of the Festival: January 12, 2019 to January 22, 2019

AGE AND AVAILABILITY

• Open to foreigners and Chileans between 18 and 30 years of age.

• Availability of dates throughout the duration of the festival.

STRINGS
VIOLIN

• J.S.Bach, Sonatas and Partitas (two contrasting movements of your choice)

• W.A Mozart, Concert for violin of your choice (first movement with cadenza)

 

VIOLA

• J.S.Bach, Suites for cello (two contrasting movements to choose from)

• F.A. Hoffmeister, Concert in D major (first movement with cadenza)

 

CELLO

• J.S. Bach, Suites for cello (two contrasting movements to choose from)

• Joseph Haydn, Concert for cello of your choice (first movement with cadenza)

(It is suggested to include piano accompaniment, however it will not be obligatory)

 

 STRING QUARTETS

• First movement of choice of a quartet by Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven.

• A work of choice from the romantic/impressionist or contemporary period (first movement)

 

WINDS
FLUTE

• W.A.Mozart, Concerto in G major, K. 313 (first movement with cadenza)

• Francis Poulenc, Sonata op. 164 (movement of your choice)

 

OBOE

• W.A.Mozart, Concerto in C major, K. 314 (first movement with cadenza)

CLARINET

BASSOON

FRENCH HORN

A work of choice between:

• Richard Strauss, Concerto n. 1, op. 11 (first movement)

• W.A.Mozart, Concerto n.3 in E flat major K. 447 (First movement with cadenza)

• W.A.Mozart, Concerto n.4 in E flat major, K. 495 (First movement with cadenza)

WIND QUINTETS

• Hindemith, Wind Quintet (movement of your choice)

A piece to choose between:

• Ibert, Brief Pieces (movement of your choice)

 

FESTIVAL CONDITIONS

The people who are accepted in the Portillo International Music Festival 2019, will be under the following conditions:

 

STUDENT RIGHTS

They will have a full scholarship, which includes: classes, lodging, meals, transportation from Santiago to Portillo and viceversa.
The festival begins on Saturday, January 12 at 6:00 p.m., so a bus will depart at 2:00 p.m. from 4270 Renato Sánchez

Street, Las Condes, Santiago. The festival ends with two final concerts (confirmed) and one concert is possible more

(still to be confirmed). One at the Portillo Hotel on Sunday 20 January at 17 hrs. and the second concert on Monday

21 from January to 20 hrs. in the city of Santiago, for which we will get off in buses from Portillo to Santiago on Monday

21 during in the morning. The third concert - if confirmed - will be on January 22nd.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF STUDENTS

If, for any reason, you miss the hours of getting on and off the bus, you will have to get to Portillo by your own.
The scholarship does not include payment of fares or health insurance. Each foreign and Chilean student must have health

insurance. Attend all classes and be punctual in everything.

Agree with all the agenda of the festival which you will have with details when you arrive in Portillo.

Because this festival is committed to excellence at all levels, there are certain actions that seem to us to be with the objective

to be achieved: During the time of the festival including the two concerts of the Festival Orchestra (one in Portillo and the

second in Santiago) students may not consume alcohol or any type of drugs.

If this happens we will know that the student will have made the decision not to continue in the festival and we will provide

him/her with the conditions to return to Santiago.

When applying make sure that in addition to the musical, you also agree with the rights and responsibilities that
everyone will have to be part of the festival!
